Propolis is a natural radiate resin substance which bees gather from leaf buds and tree bark in our Australian native vegetation to protect them from infection and disease. The working bees gather the resin and re-metabolize it and smear this substance over the walls of their hive. The bees use Propolis as glue for sealing cracks and gaps in their hives, they also place Propolis near the opening of the hive to sterilise anything entering. Bees encase foreign objects that get into the hive in a cocoon of Propolis to prevent decay.

This complex substance is called Propolis, the natural mild antibiotic and anti-fungal properties of this substance are probably due to its natural content of flavonoids organic acids, vitamins and numerous minerals. Propolis contains a high level of bioflavonoid; these stimulate white blood cells to produce Interferon, which greatly increases the body’s resistance to disease. Propolis also curtails the growth of Protozoa and is therefore an effective treatment for some intestinal parasites.

Propolis is known as a natural antibiotic with strong antimicrobial properties. It possesses anesthetic and antioxidant being very helpful in a wide range of health conditions.
